Kevin Costner’s New 8-Part Prime Video Western Series Is Now An American Streaming Sensation At The Perfect Time

Kevin Costner’s latest foray into Westerns is a big hit.

After experiencing a major resurgence with Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, Costner has continued to explore the Western genre, recently partnering with Morgan Freeman to executive produce The Gray House. The eight-part series landed on Prime Video on February 26, arriving at a busy time in the Western TV landscape.

Now, following its binge release last month,The Gray House stands as the ninth most popular title on Prime Video in the U.S., as of writing. The Western series beats The Wrecking Crew (2026) in tenth place, and falls just behind the Liam Neeson-starring Blacklight (2022) and Prime Video original series Fallout.

The Gray House, which follows four women who use their position as part of the Underground Railroad to become spies for the Union during the Civil War, arrives as Taylor Sheridan continues his strong hold over the Western genre. Sheridan just recently premiered Marshals, a Yellowstone spinoff series, with Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton.
